[Verse 1]
You said, “Speak from your mind
The words that it finds
Come out of your soul, a part of the whole”
You said, “What does it change?
Both of us know
After tonight, there …
[TONY]
Maria…
The most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard:
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria…
All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word:
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria…
Maria, Maria…
Maria!
I’ve just met a girl named Maria
And …
[Verse 1]
What happens in dreams where we fly?
Never been as high as tonight
Staring through a window in time
For someone to show me what I’m like
He said, “Hello”, it’s like a …
[Verse 1]
Oh-oh-oh, every little smile hides a little lie
Could cut the silence with a knife
Subatomic bliss is nothing left to miss
It’s just empty Russian roulette
[Pre-Chorus]
Try to brush it off my …
Lately, I’ve been, I’ve been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things we could be 61
But baby, I’ve been, I’ve been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We’ll be counting stars 62
Yeah we’ll be counting stars
[Verse 1]
I see this life, like a swinging vine
Swing my heart across the line 63
And in my face is flashing signs 64
Seek it out and ye’ shall find 65
Old, but I’m not that old 66
Young, but I’m not that bold 67
And I don’t think the world is sold
On just doing what we’re told 68
I-I-I-I feel something so right
Doing the wrong thing 69
I-I-I-I feel something so wrong
Doing the right thing
I could lie, could lie, could lie
Everything that kills me makes me feel alive 70
[Chorus x2]
[Verse 2]
I feel the love and I feel it burn
Down this river, every turn 71
Hope is our four-letter word 72
Make that money, watch it burn 73
Old, but I’m not that old
Young, but I’m not that bold 74
And I don’t think the world is sold
On just doing what we’re told 75
I-I-I-I feel something so wrong
Doing the right thing 76
I could lie, could lie, could lie
Everything that drowns me makes me wanna fly 77
[Chorus x2]
[Bridge x4]
Take that money
Watch it burn 78
Sink in the river
The lessons I’ve learned 79
[Interlude]
Everything that kills me, makes feel alive… 80
[Chorus x2]
[Bridge x4]
4The artist says that lately there is so much to think about especially in regards to the future and possible future outcomes.
He has felt the need to seek answers and he hopes that from now on instead of constantly worrying and focusing on money matters, maybe he and his partner should be marveling at the wonders that the universe has to offer.
He finds that life and its dealings shift constantly. At each turn of the swinging vine there are new challenges or goals to be met, but he can also lighten up and enjoy the swinging.
Here he states that on his face one can read the turmoil going through his mind as he ponders life.
This is a line from the Bible, where Jesus advised his followers that they will only find what they are looking only if they search for it first.
The artist says that he is at a crossroad, he is older yet not that old.
It is expected that the young are generally bold but he says that although he is young, he lacks some element of courage to achieve some of his goals.
He also believes that not everyone agrees with the idea of towing the line because some people will always rebel from certain statements or activities.
Here he clarifies that he is doing something that is not in line with what society would expect but he is having a great time through his rebellious phase.
The artist says that instead of feeling the need to lie he will just let it all out there. In other words to hurt, one must feel pain and in the same way, it is when he is threatened with loss of life, either physically or psychologically that he feels rejuvenated and his overcomes his challenges.
He feels appreciated and it touches him deep within and this love can be felt at every turn.
Hope is just word for some, but for them, the word hope symbolizes everything.
The artist sings that they will make money and then spend it, fast. This line supports the first verse that money is not everything in this life.
These two lines reflect being caught in a junction, possibly midlife and being young and wanting to make a move but lacking the necessary courage or experience.
He repeats that not everyone on this planet will follow the dotted life as some people excel because they go off the rails.
Having broken away from societal expectations, he is able to live life on his terms although it is frowned upon by members of the society.
Instead of lying he admits that he loves the thrill of living on the edge.
Here he talks of making money and watching it disappear rapidly through life’s cracks.
He uses this phrase to mean that experience has been the best teacher.
He then finishes with a reminder that by living on the edge, it is when one truly lives.

I feel so right doing the wrong thing. I feel so wrong doing the right thing. Sounds like he lets his lower nature (or the flesh) call the shots in his life, and does not live/walk in the Spirit, or live by the laws of God or the universe. He would rather feed his flesh, lust, greed, animalistic tendencies, lower nature (do whatsoever thou wilt-Satanist Creed) etc…. than to live by the higher nature of God and mankind.
