Nardo Wick – Me or Sum Lyrics
[Part I]
[Intro: Future]
Drop your location, she think she me or sum’ (Hendrix)
Put on my chains, now she think she me or sum’
She keep a Glock in her bag, she think …

[Verse 1]
You said, “Speak from your mind
The words that it finds
Come out of your soul, a part of the whole”
You said, “What does it change?
Both of us know
After tonight, there …
[TONY]
Maria…
The most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard:
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria…
All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word:
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria…
Maria, Maria…
Maria!
I’ve just met a girl named Maria
And …
[Verse 1]
What happens in dreams where we fly?
Never been as high as tonight
Staring through a window in time
For someone to show me what I’m like
He said, “Hello”, it’s like a …
[Verse 1]
Oh-oh-oh, every little smile hides a little lie
Could cut the silence with a knife
Subatomic bliss is nothing left to miss
It’s just empty Russian roulette
[Pre-Chorus]
Try to brush it off my …
When I got the news today
I didn’t know what to say
So I just hung up the phone 25
I took a walk to clear my head
This is where the walking lead 26
Can’t believe you’re really gone
Don’t feel like going home 27
So I’m gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer 28
Funny how the good ones go
Too soon, but the good Lord knows
The reasons why, I guess 29
Sometimes the greater plan
Is kinda hard to understand
Right now it don’t make sense
I can’t make it all make sense 30
So I’m gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer
So long my friend
’till we meet again
I’ll remember you
And all the times that we used to… 31
Sit right here on the edge of this pier
And watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer
Drink a beer
Drink a beer 32
Luke received some very bad news that left him speechless. This could be death of a love on or a divorce.
He goes off to walk of the hurt or frustration, to just be or to possibly look for a solution.
Luke in these lines, lets people know what has caused his anguish, his reason is his departed siblings and with now some empty places at home, he wants to be anywhere else but there. In real life, Luke has lost two siblings, an older brother Chris to an car accident in 1996 and his sister Kelly in 2007 to an unknown cause thought to be a brain tumor.
He reflects on his state and he realizes that there is not much to be done, in honour of his siblings he can however, drink a beer and perhaps reminisce of his times with them. At the pier is where Luke says that he and his sibling used to go to enjoy the sunset while having some beer, making the song all the more meaningful to him. Watching the sunset disappear can be construed as his way of acknowledging that the sun has set in his friends life and will rise no more.
Luke continues singing of the death of his beloved siblings and like everyone else he laments why it’s the good ones that seem to go too soon for their time. Truth be told everyone dies but the passing of a loved one, more so a young person is hard to deal with.
Luke is asking the old age question of why, why them, why not me? It is a question that since the beginning of time people have grappled with.
He hopes to someday meet his siblings, his brother and a sister who died, rather young and he says that he will keep their memories alive.
For now however, Luke just sits at the edge of the pier and watches the sun setting and sips his beer.
