[Part I]
[Intro: Future]

[Verse 1]
You said, “Speak from your mind
The words that it finds
Come out of your soul, a part of the whole”
You said, “What does it change?
Both of us know
After tonight, there …
[TONY]
Maria…
The most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard:
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria…
All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word:
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria…
Maria, Maria…
Maria!
I’ve just met a girl named Maria
And …
[Verse 1]
What happens in dreams where we fly?
Never been as high as tonight
Staring through a window in time
For someone to show me what I’m like
He said, “Hello”, it’s like a …
[Verse 1]
Oh-oh-oh, every little smile hides a little lie
Could cut the silence with a knife
Subatomic bliss is nothing left to miss
It’s just empty Russian roulette
[Pre-Chorus]
Try to brush it off my …
Tell me how you feel
I feel like the grass is green
And everything I do is unseen1
But I know that’s just in my mind
I know everything is just in my mind2
Do you really wanna be famous?
Do you really wanna be a superstar?3
Do you really wanna get dangerous?
Do you even know where the groupies are?4
Bitches out here be shameless
And I really wonder where they parents are5
Look around, everything changes
It feels like I’ve been buried alive6
Everything happens for a reason7
People only in your life for seasons
Word to Aunt Viv
Death and taxes that’s all we given8
You can make a life but can’t make a livin’9
You can make it work but that still ain’t driven10
Give a lot but that still ain’t givin
Livin’ life like this ain’t real though11
Every night like this I feel so
Dead wrong, collision is head on
My vision is dead and gone
Perception of right and wrong
I been here so very long
Right here in this very song
Look around everything changes12
Seem like everybody just strangers
Don’t go outside cause it’s dangerous13
Why everybody wanna be famous
I’m so OCD if they notice me
I might jump out the grave so they know it’s me
Man everybody want this shit for free
Hand out palm up when they get to me14
In my mind no I never let it get to me
Everybody got a time will it get to me15
V’s16 up motherfucka that’s victory
Tell me why what I’m doing ain’t shit to me, damn
Buried alive, buried alive
Will I survive?
Buried alive
I gotta know
I gotta know
It feels like I’ve been buried alive
Buried alive17
Tell me how you feel
I feel like the grass is green
And everything I do is unseen
But I know that’s just in my mind
I know everything is just in my mind
Do you really wanna to be famous?
Do you really wanna be a superstar?
Do you really wanna get dangerous?
Do you even know where the groupies are?
Bitches out here be shameless
And I really wonder where they parents are
Look around, everything changes
It feels like I’ve been buried alive
Let it breathe
I’m feelin’ this villainous feelin inside of my mind18
Every time that I’m willing I feel like I’m killin’ my dreams
When that voice goes nah, nah, nah19
Listen up now
Love it or hate it, never debate it, you can never degrade it
While all these other motherfuckers probably thinking
I made it
My mind jaded no I never evade it20
I elevate it21 just to keep it innovative (innovative)
God damn, bring it back now
Blowin’ up like Iraq22 now
RattPack put me on the map now
No we never back down
Just take my time, I just take my time
I know, Imma get it like this
So everyone know that I did it like this
Yeah, I know
Imma take my time
Battle the image inside of my mind
I know, Imma keep going23
Tell me I can’t but I’m already knowing
I know, I’m gonna rise24
Even though I’ve been buried alive
Buried alive, will I survive?
I gotta know
I gotta know
It feels like I’ve been buried alive
Buried alive
Tell me how you feel
I feel like the grass is green
And everything I do is unseen
But I know that’s just in my mind
I know everything is just in my mind
Do you really wanna to be famous?
Do you really wanna be a superstar?
Do you really wanna get dangerous?
Do you even know where the groupies are?
Bitches out here be shameless
And I really wonder where they parents are
Look around, everything changes
It feels like I’ve been buried alive25
Let it breathe

Logic reflects on the nature of labor. While one might invest himself into hard work, the reward is often not enjoy by the laborer. It’s often unappreciated.
Logic encourages himself here. If he thinks rationally, he will realize that the fruits of his labor, if not enjoyed by him, will be enjoyed by others. Nothing is done in vain, even if it feels unappreciated in the moment.
Fame and popularity and fleeting and meaningless. Being a big shot is a practice in chasing after the wind.
Life in the hip hop game is no walk in the park, according to Logic.
In the world of hip hop, girls are treated as sexual objects that exist purely for the pleasure of men. They are not treated humanely. That’s what Logic is trying to point out here.
“Buried alive” is how Logic feels when so much time and energy must be poured into his music career. There are so many demands, and being a normal human being is no longer a possibility.
Logic sees purpose in the universe.
Benjamin Franklin famously said the only two things that are certain in life are death and taxes.
“Make a life but can’t make a livin'” refers to the systemic economic exploitation of common people, which Logic points out is an injustice.
So many people live their lives just trying to get by, but that’s not a fulfilling existence.
Logic wants to pursue life beyond mere survival.
Logic is trying to articulate that the world is quite dynamic. It is ever-changing. This makes our wisdom and personal progress fleeting.
Logic refers here to the culture of fear that informs the behavior of most people.
Logic mourns the attitude of entitlement people have, especially when it comes to music.
This is Logic’s way of saying “the universe bends toward justice.”
“V’s” are peace symbols made with the fingers.
This bridge informs listeners that Logic believes the human experience is not easy. It is extremely demanding, and sometimes human resilience is just not enough.
Logic acknowledges himself as his own barrier to some of his problems.
The “voice of rationality” often convinces us not to do things we should probably do because of fear of the unknown.
Logic doesn’t take his musical success for granted. Rather, he acknowledges that his success was built on an ethically questionable foundation.
“Elevate it” means “rap with a lot of creativity.
“Blowin’ up like Iraq” means “gaining popularity rapidly.”
Logic commits to excel in his musical career.
Logic has a great degree of self-confidence.
This song is about questioning whether fame is actually desirable.
