Matt Simons – With you Lyrics
[Verse 1:]
Honest where I start from
I try and impart my wisdom
A combination of truth and fear

[Verse 1:]
Honest where I start from
I try and impart my wisdom
A combination of truth and fear
That’s the way it’s always been
My father and his before him
At times we hurt the …
[Verse 1]
Oh, pity me
I’m so alone and so blue
My friends have all gone away
Their friendliness too
[Pre-Chorus]
It was I on my own
With no need to belong
And I wanted to die
That’s when …
[Verse 1]
Got some money, got some cash
I’m rich and now I’m sad
And I wonder if I’m sad about the money that I have
Got some boats on my plane
At the hotel …
[Intro]
Yeah
Polishin’ a goddamn sword, you know what I’m sayin’?
Polishin’ a sword (Uh, uh, uh, uh)
Concrete Family, Concrete Industries, Concrete Boys up, always, never down
(And this beat from Cash, not from …
When the only sound in the empty street
Is the heavy tread of the heavy feet
That belong to a lonesome cop
I open shop
When the moon so long has been gazing down
On …
I could be the one for you1
You don’t know a thing about me2
I could be your lover
You don’t know a thing about me3
Let me in and I will take you over4
You don’t know the things I’m gonna show you5
Come and take me on,6 I’m already gone7
Even as you stand there
I know we were made for this8
Statue from a stone, make us beautiful9
I know we were made for this
So don’t throw it all away
Before you know my na-a-a-ame10
Come and take me on
I can’t watch you stand there
I know we were made for this11
“I could be the one for you” has romantic connotations. It suggests that a romance should be pursued in an effort to explore whether two people are “right for each other.”
Sick Individuals brings listeners a song about giving romance a chance. “You don’t know a thing about me” means “don’t blow me off too soon.”
“I could be your love / You don’t know a thing about me” reinforces the idea in the previous lyrics. These two people should give a romantic relationship a shot.
The suggestion of a romantic relationship grows somewhat aggressive at this point. “Let me in” suggests that one party is pro-active about love and the other party is passive. “I will take you over” even carries somewhat violent connotations, leading listeners to believe the passive person involved in this romance might be victimized.
“You don’t know the things I’m gonna show you” cross the line of aggression even further. It is a reference to rape – or at least sexual manipulation.
“Take me on” means “accept my ‘love.'”
“I’m already gone” means “I’ve already committed the whole of myself to the relationship anyway.
“I know we were made for this” is the aggressor’s way of manipulating his beloved to accept the relationship.
Before a statue is carved, it begins as a normal stone. The aggressive person in this relationship is suggesting that although they are two normal people, their love can make something beautiful out of something ordinary.
This lyric begs the beloved to give the relationship a try.
The final lyric in the song suggests that the relationship is meant to be. It is a conniving statement used to force the beloved to embrace the relationship as a good idea.
